The Royal Horticultural Society of Ireland is christening its newly-restored garden at Russborough in the heart of West Wicklow with a Garden Show packed with beautiful plants, wonderful gardens and a dazzling range of inspiring speakers.
The RHSI took on the three-and-a-half acre 18th century walled garden at Russborough five years ago and since then it’s gone from strength to strength, lovingly restored and replanted by an army of volunteers. Now it’s the backdrop for a major celebration of all things green-fingered, from flower arranging demonstrations by leading florists using freshly-cut blooms from the Walled Garden, to a whole marketplace full of specialist plants, flowers, tools and books.
Among the speakers on the day are plant hunter and garden designer Martin Walsh, and Chelsea gold medal winner Paul Martin. There are hands-on gardening activities for the kids, as well as delicious grub from Brambles Catering. You’ll have the chance to stroll through the Gardens themselves and chat to the volunteers who have been involved in its restoration, as well as enjoy a guided tour of the house with a special discounted rate on the day. The RHSI Russborough Garden Show is on Saturday 29th July, from 10am to 5pm: for more details, visit www.rhsi.ie.
